(FBOP) - On January 20, 2025, the President signed an Executive Order titled, "Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government." Federal agencies were directed to remove content related to gender ideology—removing the word "transgender" and replacing the word "gender" with "sex" throughout all external-facing media/websites.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons supports and will comply with all executive orders issued by the President of the United States. Therefore, some content on our public website (www.bop.gov) is temporarily unavailable as we work to fully implement the Executive Order.
