(BOP) - The Bureau of Prisons Reentry Services Division (RSD) has launched a national inmate newsletter to enhance communication with the inmate population. Entitled "Reentry Quarterly," this publication reinforces the BOP's message: "reentry begins on the first day of incarceration." Each edition includes a variety of articles focused on reentry resources for a diverse audience with a goal of providing something meaningful for every inmate. Topics have included post-release housing, inmate discipline, financial responsibility, Medicare, anger management, education, drug treatment, career/work, and parenting. Additionally, RSD is partnering with interested U.S. Probation Offices to include location-specific information for partner districts. To-date, such information has been shared on behalf of inmates releasing to Connecticut, District of Columbia, West Virginia and Arizona.
The Community Reentry Affairs Branch is responsible for coordinating the development and dissemination of the "Reentry Quarterly." The newsletter is shared electronically with inmates via the BOP's electronic inmate bulletin board (TRULINCS), and is posted on physical bulletin boards in the housing units.
Using the "Reentry Quarterly" and other communication tools, the BOP continues to ensure that inmates have the available resources they need to succeed within custody and upon return to their communities.
