September 21, 2018 UPDATE: (BOP) - As of 9:00 a.m. (EST), all Command Centers have been deactivated.
The power has been restored to FCI Bennettsville and normal operations will resume today. Visitation is scheduled to resume on Saturday, September 22, 2018. However, visitors should continue to check our location page for current information on the status of visiting. A red banner will appear at the top of the institution's home page if visiting is suspended.
USP Atlanta (GA), FCI Edgefield (SC), FCI Williamsburg (SC), FCI Jesup (GA), FCI Estill (SC) and the Southeast Regional Office, provided staff, resources and supplies to assist FCI Bennettsville. In addition, 42 Bureau staff remain deployed to the government's Emergency Support Function (ESF #13), providing assistance to the people of Elizabeth City, NC.
We continue to keep the affected residents and communities in our thoughts as clean-up efforts continue.

September 19, 2018 UPDATE: (BOP) - As of 9:00 a.m. (EST), Command Centers at the Central Office, Southeast Regional Office and FCI Bennettsville, (SC) remain open. FCI Bennettsville is experiencing intermittent power, which is affecting phone service; however, power is being adequately maintained with generator back-up, as needed. They continue to have an adequate supply of food and water for both staff and inmates.
Visitors should continue to check our location page for current information on the status of visiting. A red banner will appear at the top of the institution's home page if visiting is suspended.
Our thoughts are with staff and residents affected by the storm and flooding, as well as with the emergency responders assisting the surrounding communities.

September 16, 2018 UPDATE: (BOP) - As of 9:00 a.m. (EST), Command Centers at the Central Office, Southeast Regional Office, FCI Bennettsville (SC), FCI Williamsburg (SC) and FCI Edgefield (SC) remain open. No significant property or water damage has been reported at any Bureau facility. There have been no reported injuries to either staff or inmates in any of our institutions; a few minor injuries to off-duty staff have been reported.
FCI Bennettsville remains on generator power at this time. They continue to have adequate water and food supplies for both staff and inmates.
All staff and inmates are accounted for.
Our thoughts are with members of all the communities affected by this storm.

September 15, 2018 UPDATE: (BOP) - As of 9:00 a.m. (EST), all Bureau of Prisons institutions remain operational. All institutions have an adequate supply of food and water for both the staff and inmates. Supplemental resources and staff have been staged to assist with relief efforts, if needed.
FCI Bennettsville, SC, has converted to generator power.
Any damage will be assessed after the storm clears.
The Bureau is providing support to the government's Emergency Support Function (ESF #13), by providing staff and resources to assist with public safety and security.
