(BOP) - The Bureau of Prisons and the U.S. Department of Labor partnered to develop National Standards of Apprenticeship in support of the President's Executive Order "Expanding Apprenticeships in America." These National Standards, to be used throughout the Bureau, promote apprenticeships for incarcerated individuals.
The newly developed apprenticeships programs will provide inmates the opportunity to obtain industry recognized skills. Adoption of the new standards will allow for nationally-recognized certificates, a significant improvement over the current state level certifications being provided, that will enhance inmates' ability to secure meaningful employment following release.
