(BOP) - The Bureau of Prisons' public website (bop.gov) was recently recognized as one of the top five best performing federal government websites. The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF), a nonprofit, nonpartisan research and educational institute, released an updated "Benchmarking U.S. Government Websites" report in November. The report provides a detailed analysis of how federal government websites are performing in four categories: page-load speed, mobile friendliness, security, and accessibility.
ITIF analyzed about ten percent of the more than 4,500 government websites, including 300 of the most popular sites. Within that group, bop.gov received a fourth place ranking overall, including a first and second place tie with other agencies for accessibility and mobile friendliness and a third place tie for security. The top three best performing websites are: vote.gov, ibwc.gov (International Boundary and Water Commission), nist.gov (National Institute of Standards and Technology), and the fifth is science.gov.
