(BOP) - On October 23 and 24, 2017, Director Mark S. Inch visited with hundreds of staff in the Southeast Region, and had an opportunity to observe several inmate programs as well as institution operations including housing units, religious services, health services, food services and education.
Accompanied by Regional Director J.A. Keller and Deputy Regional Director Shannon Phelps, Director Inch made stops at the Southeast Regional Office, USP Atlanta and FCI Miami. At USP Atlanta, Director Inch particularly noted the Federal Prison Industries factory that employs 150 inmates and the high security mental health unit; at FCI Miami, the Director noted the Spanish Residential Drug Abuse Treatment Program.
At both USP Atlanta and FCI Miami, Director Inch spoke at staff recalls where he provided valuable insights regarding the corrections profession and the role and responsibility of corrections professionals. Staff from FDC Miami participated in the FCI Miami recall via video conference.
