Subsistence for Home Confinement Discontinued

Policy changed to reflect removal of requirement

Subsistence for Home Confinement Discontinued

(BOP) - Individuals who the Bureau of Prisons places in home confinement to complete their federal prison term will no longer be required to pay subsistence costs. Previously, Bureau policy required the subsistence payments that were used to offset the costs of monitoring the program.

Change Notices to two Bureau policies (Program Statement 7320.01, Home Confinement and Program Statement 7300.09, Community Corrections Manual) were issued on August 1, 2016, removing the subsistence requirement for home confinement, and Residential Reentry Center contractors are being made aware of this change.

The Bureau continues to assist individuals releasing from federal prisons in their efforts to become productive, law-abiding members of society.
