(BOP) - Director Samuels provided opening remarks at the Department of Justice's Diversity and Inclusion Speaker Series Event on October 22, 2015. "As Department of Justice employees, we must strive every day to acknowledge our differences and our unique talents, and to grow closer and stronger because of them," the Director said.
The event, held at Main Justice, was broadcast on the Justice Television Network. Director Samuels spoke about the importance of recognizing and valuing the differences and similarities of our co-workers. "Employees who work together and know they are valued for their individual skills and ideas are more productive," he said. "The Department benefits and, as a result, so does the American public who depend on us to be at our best every single day.".
Director Samuels introduced Professor Jennifer L. Eberhardt, the event's keynote speaker. Professor Eberhardt, a social psychologist, spoke about the impact of unconscious bias on the criminal justice system.
