(BOP) - Former inmate Walter Pavlo completed the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) in 2003 and since that time has devoted his life to assisting others on both sides of the fence.
Mr. Pavlo recently returned to the Satellite Prison Camp at Edgefield and spoke to current RDAP inmates. "My participation in RDAP represented the first time in my entire life that I really reflected on my life, both the good and the bad." One of his most important messages to the current inmates was to start preparing for release as soon as you arrive, through whatever means are available. "The lessons I learned during RDAP helped when I needed patience to continue to recover from the mistakes that I made and prepare for the successes that were ahead and the people I met during RDAP, both inmates and staff, made me a better person than the one who entered prison."
The lessons learned by Mr. Pavlo helped him become a successful entrepreneur. He has been invited to speak to the FBI, US Attorney's Office, major corporations and at over 100 colleges and universities, and he has had guest appearances on many television shows.
