Financial Management at the BOP
Accountants classify and evaluate financial data; record transactions in financial records; prepare and analyze financial statements, records, and reports; and supervise the maintenance of inmate accounts.

Education

You must have at least 24 semester hours in accounting and auditing subjects and a 4-year college degree in a related field, such as:
  • Business Administration
  • Finance
  • Public Administration

For consideration at the GS-07 level

1 year of experience in professional accounting or auditing work.

For consideration at the GS-09 level

2 years of experience in professional accounting operations.
