FCI Danbury Holds Staff Recognition Event

FSL Danbury officially dedicated

Director Mark S. Inch and Warden D.K. Williams cut the ceremonial ribbon at FSL Danbury

(BOP) - On April 5, 2018, the Federal Bureau of Prisons held a staff recognition event dedicating the Federal Satellite Low (FSL) facility, in Danbury, Connecticut. The FSL, located on the grounds of the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI), is home to the first Female Integrated Treatment (FIT) Program in the Bureau of Prisons.

Mark S. Inch, Director of the Bureau of Prisons, along with Northeast Regional Director M.D. Carvajal and FCI Danbury Warden D.K. Williams cut the ceremonial ribbon and unveiled the Dedication Plaque. Members of the Bureau of Prisons Executive Staff and other agency officials joined FCI Danbury staff for the ceremony.

In his remarks, Director Inch said, "We are really proud of this facility and especially the FIT program; the first ever of its kind. All the inmates assigned to this treatment-oriented environment will participate in programming, where they hold one another accountable, and are invested in one another's success and well-being. The facility advances the mission of the Bureau of Prisons to protect public safety and improve reentry outcomes, and it directly serves all of our stakeholders."

The FSL has a capacity for 192 female inmates. There is also a minimum security federal prison camp that houses 188 females, along with an FCI that houses 866 low security male inmates.
