- U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ)
FBI's Uniform Crime Reports: Provides statistics, current press releases, and highlights
from the most recent "Crime in the U.S.," based on a Crime Index of selected violent and property offenses
reported by more than 16,000 law enforcement agencies.
National Institute of Corrections: NIC provides training, technical assistance,
information services, and policy/program development assistance to Federal, state, and local
National Criminal Justice Reference Service: NCJRS is a collection of clearinghouses
supporting all bureaus of the DOJ's Office of Justice Programs and the Office
of National Drug Control Policy, Executive Office of the President.
Bureau of Justice Statistics: BJS has information on crime, offenders, victims, and
the operation of justice systems at all levels of government. The
Sourcebook on Criminal
is produced for BJS by the Hindelang Criminal Justice Research Center at the University of Albany.
U.S. Sentencing Commission: USSC establishes sentencing policies and practices for Federal courts, including detailed guidelines prescribing the appropriate form and severity of punishment for offenders convicted of Federal crimes.
