Volunteers of America Presents the President's Award for Program Excellence to U.S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners

On Monday, August 9, 1999, Volunteers of America will present the President’s Award for Program Excellence for the Hospice Program at the U. S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners. This is the first year for Volunteers of America to present this award. The award recognizes the U. S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners’ Hospice Program for excellence and innovation in providing humane services to offenders. The hospice program fulfills Volunteers of America’s mission of uplifting people and providing people with the opportunity to serve others.

Warden Patrick W. Keohane stated, "I am extremely proud to serve as Warden of the professional and caring staff who meet the daily challenges of the prison and medical mission. We at the U.S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners are especially proud of this award. We were the first prison in the country to start a Hospice Program, and this recognition is well deserved by our staff."

The award will be presented at the Hyatt Regency, Grand Ballroom, Denver, Colorado at a 6:30 AM breakfast during the American Correctional Association 129th Congress of Corrections on August 9, 1999.
