Terre Haute, Indiana - On November 1, 2000, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania vacated its order setting November 15, 2000, as the date of execution for inmate David Paul Hammer. Based on this order, the agenda of the media orientation program, scheduled on November 3, at 10:00 a.m. at the United States Penitentiary (USP), Terre Haute, Training Center, has been changed. The Bureau will keep media representatives informed of significant events and any need for a media orientation program regarding inmate Hammer.

The November 3^rd media orientation will provide media representatives with the scheduled execution information related to inmate Juan Raul Garza’s case. In accordance with an order from the United States District Court, Southern District of Texas, inmate Garza is currently scheduled to be executed at USP Terre Haute on December 12, 2000. Garza was sentenced to death under Federal law on August 10, 1993, in the Southern District of Texas, after being convicted for the murders of three individuals in furtherance of a continuing criminal enterprise ("CCE"), and five violations of drug and money laundering laws.
