Notice of Contract Award for the Management
and Operation of a Private Correctional Institution |

The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) has awarded a contract for
the management and operation of a contractor owned and operated secure
correctional institution. The contract has been awarded to Wackenhut Corrections
Corporation for performance in Winton, North Carolina.
The Request for Proposal (RFP) was issued in December 1998 to
meet the requirements of The National Capital Revitalization and Self-Government
Improvement Act of 1997. The contract calls for the housing of 1,200
low-security male, District of Columbia sentenced felons.
The potential term of the contract is 10 years encompassing a
three year base period and 7 one-year options. The contract price for the 10
year period is $326,700,116.
