Recreation Specialist - GS-188-5/7/9. Recreation Specialists plan, organize, and administer recreational programs and activities for inmates in correctional institutions.

Qualifications: GS-5: must have a full 4-year course in an accredited college or university with major study in one or more of the appropriate fields of recreation; or 3 years of experience in which candidates have demonstrated a knowledge of the goals, principles, methods, and techniques of recreation (6 months of which must be in the specialized area applied for); or a combination of education and experience in managing youth or community recreation, recreation for the institutionalized or for older adults, or outdoor recreation. GS-7: must meet the requirements of a GS-5, plus 1 year of specialized full-time experience. GS-9: must meet the requirements of a GS-5, plus 2 years of specialized experience.
